I've tried both the attack and defence variants and neither offer what I'm looking for. Wide centre-back - support: extremely important. Sweeper keeper - defend: on defend duty a sweeper keeper will move just outside his box to clear up through balls if needed, which is perfect since I defend with a high-line.I recommend getting the best shot stopper you possibly can here. I'll give my thoughts behind each role and their importance to my system before proceeding further. Here's the formation and roles I settled on after much testing by playing through seasons to see what worked: ◉ concede the least amount of goals I possibly can ◉ create a style that works at both small teams and big ones, so that it can eventually win trophies without wholesale changes to the entire system ◉ ensuring that we build from the back to draw the opposition up the pitch ◉ using 2 strikers to try and replicate the little/large style that used to be very popular ◉ using 3 centre-backs and more specifically using the wide centre-back Here's what I wanted to achieve with this tactic: I've spent a LOT (many many many) hours trying to create a style of football that I love with FM22. My dream football style is Jose Mourinho teams, Diego Simeone, Claudio Ranieri, Antonio Conte, all of these managers have their own distinct brand of how to play pragmatic counter attacking football and achieve success with it. However recently I got really interested in trying to create a counter attacking system that didn't just rely on very high defensive/engagement line with very attacking mentality like every single plug & play tactic in existence. I don't post here ever because I usually don't feel like I have things worth sharing that aren't already perfected by the community. During attacks, Cataldi holds his position to protect the midfield against counterattacks.Hi. His job is to win tackles, mark attackers, close them down and intercept passes. DMĬataldi as the deepest midfielder is a defensive midfielder. Marusic and Lazzari have featured more as the left and right fullbacks respectively. When they are not with the ball, they will make underlapping runs into the box. When the wingers stay wider, the fullbacks will sit narrower when they get the ball, they cut inside with it. The fullbacks on the left and right side in this tactic, are inverted wing-backs on support duties. Romagnoli and Casale have featured more in these positions this season. They equally have good passing range, and composure to pick out teammates positioned higher up the pitch. They will stay within the defensive line to mark the attackers, closing them down and preventing the ball from getting into the box. The centre-halves under Sarri are ball-playing defenders on defence duties. The fullbacks will sit narrower, sometimes they spread wide to provide a diagonal out-leg option to the goalkeeper. During the build-up the central defenders will give the goalkeeper width inside the box, the holding midfielder will drop close to the box while the centre midfielders will form a pivot above the holding midfielder. Sarri as we know him is a fan of playing out of defence.
