To use the plugin, select Draw>SphereTool.Install the rb file in your plugins folder. That circle should be entirely erased, leaving the full sphere. Use the Erase tool to erase the edge of the first, larger, circle.Select the Follow Me tool, and then click the face of the second, smaller circle.Select the Select tool and click on the first circle. Then use the Select tool to select the face of the first, larger circle. With the inference direction locked, draw a second circle inside the first, but make it a little smaller than the first. With the Circle tool still selected, move your cursor along the top edge of the drawing until the circle cursor turns red or green, and then press and hold the Shift key to lock that inference direction (both of these inference directions are perpendicular to the ground plane). Start your circle at the origin point (the point where the red, green, and blue axes intersect). Select the Circle tool to draw a circle on the ground plane. If you don't have SketchUp installed, download it from and install it. ![]() This extension allows you to really customize the location and mapping of your materials within your SketchUp models. Soap Skin and Bubble is an extension that allows you to select a frame, create a face along it, then inflate it to create different faces – this is an excellent extension for the creation of shapes like tensile structures, etc.Īs we move forward, UV Mapping and the placement of materials is becoming more and more important. When you move the points on the bounding box, FFD will use those points to deform your shape. Note that shapes for slicer have to be solids, so you may want to use a tool like Solid Inspector to help you create the solid geometry.įFD is an extension that allows you to create a “Bounding Box” around a group of geometry, which can then be used to manipulate the geometry within the box. Slicer allows you to take solid shapes and break them up into different slices, allowing you to make very interesting geometry, but also allows you to export these different slices to a CNC routing machine, helping you create real models from these shapes in real life. This allows for the creation of more complex shapes and objects by using a complex target shape. One of the most powerful extension for SketchUp is flowify, which allows you to bend geometry based on a target shape with 4 corners. However, this extension, created by Fredo6, allows you to actually animate moving geometry. One of the areas where a base SketchUp installation lacks a bit is in the animation functions. This year, I’m still featuring FredoScale, specifically for its radial bend tool, but with a catch – I’m also recommending a new extension from Thom Thom that allows you to bend objects along a 360 degree radius, while FredoScale only bends objects along 180 degrees. Last year, I featured FredoScale for its ability to bend objects within SketchUp. While the full version has some unlockable features, like moveable pins, and different kinds of smoothing, the free version of clothworks does still allow you to simulate cloth and very realistic ways! ![]() This is a great extension for adding thickness to complex objects as well.Ĭlothworks is a realistic cloth simulation tool. ![]() When you use it properly, you can make truly amazing shapes within SketchUp.Įver get the message in SketchUp that you can’t push-pull a curved surface? This extension allows you to push pull multiple surfaces at once, push pull round surfaces, and more. This extension is great for creating Skins along frames and other complex sets of lines.
